This .22 Long Lee Enfield is in full military specification. It started life as a 1903 dated .303 LE Mk1* and was then converted in 1909 to a CLLE Mk1* before its conversion to .22 configuration. It has matching numbers to the bolt & action but the now sleeved barrel is a replacement. Unusually it has retained its full set of volley sights and windage adjustable rear sight and it comes complete with its contemporary leather sling. It also retains its complete .303 magazine these were replaced on later rifles to an empty box in 1924. In good overall condition with an excellent barrel that is mirror bright. The butt tang is marked SAMR for te South African Mounted Rifles & SAP For the South African Police, the “U” with a Broad Arrow also shows that it has served in South Africa, a much traveled rifle with a huge amount of history.
