.22 RF Pattern 1914 Short Rifle No1

£1,295.00

This is a wartime trainer approved on the 24th of May 1915, this conversion has been done to a 1901 dated B.S.A. Co LE 1* .303 rifle. The conversion was completed by AG Parker with insertion of a .22 “Parker Tube” into a bored out .303 barrel. The original bolt head was also modified but this example has a .22 No2 bolt head fitted. The original conversion called for the magazine to be removed but in 1925 magazines were fitted again, minus the loading platform & spring, to catch the empty cases. The charger guide was removed and a 25yard marking was added to the rear sight. Mark 1* rifles in .303 are hard to find and to find one converted to Pattern 1914 No1 is even more unusual as they were superseded by the Pattern 1914 No2 which was a conversion of the Mark III SMLE. The bolt head on this rifle has been chamfered which would indicate that it was at some point used with a Parker Hiscock magazine.
