.22 Military Rifles .22 RF Pattern 1914 Short Rifle No2 SOLD

.22 RF Pattern 1914 Short Rifle No2 SOLD

£1,395.00
sold out

These rifles are a modification of the MkIII SMLE, by tubing a .303 barrel and altering the bolt, it resembles its host rifle in appearance. The conversion stamp was made on the right hand side of the butt socket below the original markings, the date of the conversion was not marked. When first introduced the magazine was discarded but in 1925 that magazine cases without the follower and spring be fitted to collect the spent .22 cases. The spent cases are extracted but not ejected and will fall into the empty magazine box. Records state that around 1800 of these rifles were produced but as they were converted by the Birmingham Gun Trade with ongoing contracts the numbers could be more. This rifle was converted by A G Parker & Co Ltd and follows the above conversion procedure, but rifles converted at Lithgow were fitted with new solid barrels thus becoming the .22 No2 MkIV* and were then marked as such. A rare rifle for the Enfield collector or miniature rifle shooter in very good condition.
