With a production run of about 20,00 between 1922 and 1924 the No1 MkV can be considered more than a troop trials rifle. It is a further development of the No1 MkIII with the rear sight being mounted on the receiver body being the obvious alteration as well as an additional front barrel band. This 1924 dated example is original not built up from parts, it has all matching numbers including it’s ‘24 dated barrel, action, bolt, nose cap and woodwork. The barrel is dark in the lands but it has good strong bright rifling. These rifles never saw general British issue but some were later sent to Greece and Ireland, there was a proposal to convert MkIII rifles to MkV specification but was deemed to be to expensive. A good clean example of one of the rarer marques of the Enfield series of rifles ideal for the collector or shooter.
