The American .303 P14 rifles unlike the Enfield rifles were not dated but this example has a ‘17 dated barrel and the butt disc is marked 10 . 17 which is when it would have been taken into service, the R.M.L.I would appear to indicate it was issued to the Royal Marines at some point. It is in good clean overall condition including the barrel with matching numbers to the barrel and action and a bolt that has been numbered to the rifle probably done when it went thru the “Weedon” repair / refurbishment scheme, the “Weedon Star” is stamped on the barrel and on the bolt. These rifles were issued to second line troops during WWII they also saw service with the Home Guard. Unusually there is a cleaning pull thru and bottle under the butt trap the oil bottle is serial numbered to the rifle which is very rare aa these items are usually missing.
