Section 1 Rifles 7 x 57 Mauser Cavalry Carbine SOLD

7 x 57 Mauser Cavalry Carbine SOLD

£995.00

The markings and serial number on this Cavalry Carbine would indicate that is was part of the 3rd contract signed on the 20th of April 1897 for the South African Republic and was shipped on the 28th of August 1897 arriving in Pretoria on the 7th of October 1897. This batch of Carbines were serial numbered 5001 - 7000, this Carbine is serial numbered “5508”. It is in Very Good condition and has fully matching numbers throughout including the original barrel and rear sight. The barrel is clean & bright with strong rifling and the overall condition of the Carbine is exceptional given its age, it is missing its clearing rod but other than that it is complete as it would have been when it left the factory in Germany. This is one of the best Boer War Cavalry Carbines that I have seen and would be a great addition to any collection or for shooting.
