Section 1 Rifles 7.62 x 51 Enfield L39A1 Service Target Rifle SOLD

7.62 x 51 Enfield L39A1 Service Target Rifle SOLD

£875.00
sold out

TheL39A1 was in essence an L42A1 sniper rifle without the telescope or 7.62 magazine. It was designed for competitive rifle shooting within the British armed services. As supplied from the factory they were not usually supplied with either front or rear sights, these were to be supplied and fitted by the receiving unit. The foresight would be of the tunnel type with the rear sight being the usual micrometer twin zero adjustment aperture style. The No4 Mk2 receiver was used so the trigger is receiver mounted giving a more crisp trigger pull that the Mk1 trigger position. As it was only intended to be a single shot rifle the original .303 magazine was retained for use as a loading platform which means that there is no positive ejection of the spent round. With some light modifications a 7.62 magazine can be fitted as in the case of this rifle. A container for the spare foresight elements is fitted in a recess under the pistol grip, some L39 rifles can be found with a “Monte Carlo” style butt, these were fitted at unit level and were not supplied with the rifle from new.
